Hi, I'm Tara

After more than ten years serving families in the Raleigh, North Carolina area as a birth doula and fertility educator, I saw a consistent gap in care. Most support focused narrowly on the day of birth, while women needed practical, comprehensive guidance across the entire childbearing year — from preconception through postpartum.

That’s why I created BodyWise Birth Co. (formerly Soltara). My mission is simple: to address the widespread lack of clear, practical knowledge about how women’s bodies are designed to function.

Too many women enter this season without understanding their menstrual cycle, fertility, pregnancy changes, labor process, or postpartum recovery. This knowledge gap often leads to more discomfort than necessary, uncertainty in labor, and challenges like pelvic floor or core dysfunction afterward.

My approach is practical and non-judgmental. I’m here to answer your questions clearly, equip you with tools that support comfort and confidence, and stand beside you — whether your path includes a hospital, birth center, or home birth.

Core Values

Reproductive education is the right of all women.

From menarche to menapause all women should have access to comprehensive education about their menstural cycle, hormones, and anatomy.

Bodies are made to move.

No matter the shape or size, all bodies were made to move often in a wide variety of ways.

Birth is normal.

Birth is primarily a physiological process, not a medical procedure.

Your experience matters.

Of course healthy moms and babies are important, but so is the mother's experience. Every woman should be made to feel safe, confident, and have her autonomy respected.

Common does not equal normal.

Much of what we expect or think of as normal is simply what has become common.  Infertility is common. Aches and pains during pregnancy are common. Peeing when you sneeze is common. None of these are normal.
